Course book

• Having a course-book and doing it instead of using it, without introducing changes, different exercises ← shit

• Teacher of what he wants to achieve, using chosen, appropriate materials, using a course-book in a creative way

• Not using any specific course-book, preparing materials for each class on your own

Advantages of having a course-book

• set of rules appropriate for certain level collected in one place

• ideas which exercises do and how

• information what is going to be covered

• Easy to use for students at home

• set of nicely bound set of materials

• material is organised

• we're certain the level is appropriate

• It has recordings appropriate to unit and level

• a set of guidance for a beginner teacher

• A good course-book is fallowed by a good teacher's manual book

Information included in a good teacher's manual book

• Advices 'if you're short of time skip this', 'if you have some more time do this and this too'

• how much time is needed for the activity

• tape-scripts for recordings

Disadvantages of using a course-book

• Temptation to do the course-book

• Some course-books are badly constructed

• Expensive

• Teachers may not want to prepare any extra materials

• Good course-book may be fallowed by bad teacher's book

• Always the same melody at the beginning of tracks

• You may fall into routine

Course-books are homogeneous (jednorodne)

Groups are heterogeneous (różnorodne)

No weak learners just less or more proficient
