Origin  

Superior margin and outer surfaces of ribs 
2-5 near the cartilages, fascia over 
intercostal muscles between ribs 2-5 

Insertion  

Superior surface of the coracoid process 
of the scapula 

Actions  

With origin fixed: tilts scapula anteriorly 
With insertion fixed and scapula stabilized: 
assists in forced inspiration 

Nerve  

Medial Pectoral Nerve (with a 
communicating branch from the Lateral 
Pectoral Nerve)
