Residents of Burley were angry yesterday after music fans queuing for summer festival tickets left the town centre in a mess.

Festival season is always a time of disagreements between residents and fans. The Burley Music Festival is held every year in June. However, tickets for the event go on sale in May. You can only buy them from Juno's record store and there are only a limited number. 1___ This means that for at least two days the city is taken over by music fans from across Britain. Local residents, however, are angered by the amount of litter and damage that the fans create. One resident, Mrs Heath, said, ` 2___ But they throw litter on the ground and leave a terrible mess. Why can't they put their litter in bins?'

Local café owner Mr Andrews added, `I get a lot of business from the festival queue but I live in the city too. 3___ I have young children who have to go to school and I have to work so a good night's sleep is important. I think I'll have to leave town next year.'

4___ He reassured residents by saying, `Unless the festival organisers find a way to sell tickets that causes fewer disturbances, we may cancel the festival next year.' However, festival president, Mr Mated, claimed that the local council should provide more litter bins and tidy the town centre. He said, `This festival brings a lot of money to the local area. Everyone in the town benefits from that.'

a) Yesterday we spoke to the mayor of Burley.

b) Personally, I like concerts.

c) If they had more respect, there wouldn't be a problem.

d) As a result, many music lovers are prepared to queue to get tickets.

e) At night I can't sleep because they're so noisy.
