Draining

a Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes from scalding
due to contact with hot coolant spray.Risk of
poisoning if coolant is swallowed.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant
temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly
and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant
into beverage bottles.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing
and eye protection.

Open the cap (2) on expansion reservoir or
cooling system

i Cap with detent: turn the cap carefully up
to the first detent, release the pressure, then
remove the cap.

i For 2-stage and 1-stage caps: give the

cap a half turn anticlockwise, release the
pressure, then remove the cap.

Drain coolant at the radiator or at the
crankcase

i Model 163: to drain the coolant, detach
the coolant hose under the radiator or at the
coolant pump.

i Collect the coolant

i Disposal of coolant: observe the legal

requirements or the local wastewater
regulations!
