APPLICATION 
The motor of SG3 400X-8/4 type is intended for driving belt conveyor and scraper belt conveyor. 
The motor can be used in underground parts of mines and surface installations of the mines, where there 
are possible explosion conditions for methane and/or coal dust. 
 
CHARACTERISTIC FEATURES OF MOTOR 
• 

Induction 3-phase, two-speed motor with double squirrel-cage rotor. 

• 

Explosion-proof construction with flame-proof casing of motor “d” - mark 

 I M2 EExd I, equipment 

ranked as  group I of category M2 according to Directive 94/9/EC. 

• 

The degree of protection IP 55 acc. to PN EN 60034-5:2000U. 

• 

The motors are cooled by water flowing through the water jacket of body and disk P. 

• 

The motor has solid shaft. 

• 

Primary voltage execution: 3300V 50 Hz. 

• 

Class of insulation: class H. 

• 

Thermal protection of motors - bimetal sensors (NC) or posistor PTC sensors - in winding and bearing 
nodes – two identical circuits: basic and stand-by. 

• 

Temperature control: thermometric resistors Pt 100 in winding and bearing nodes.  

• 

Three – inlet terminal box equipped with: 

–  two cable inlets with rubber gasket selected to the outer diameters of feeder cable, type 

Wk3u/... produced by DAMEL - catalogue card K4-15-136 or 1 (one) cable inlet of Wk3u/… type 
and stopper Zk3u. 

–  one cable inlet of 54232...-M28 type produced by Goethe or stopper M28x1.5. 

• 

Form of execution: flanged execution – IM3001 (B5), flange FF 740. 

• 

The motor is executed as flanged with centring lock on disk N Ø680h8. The motor is fixed on machine 
through centring flange by using 8 screws M24. The overall and assembly dimensions of motor are 
presented at Fig. 2a and 2b. 

• 

The motor is equipped with 2 (two) final links of protection conductor continuity control circuit [CK], 
mounted in the terminal box – primary execution: the links CK-OA,  produced by DAMEL 

 

After settlement the assembly of final units CK… of other type is possible (e.g. diode+resistor, reverse 
polarity, etc.) produced by DAMEL - catalogue card K4-15-121. 

•  The motor is intended for feeding from power network, start-up can be executed by: 

–  direct switching on the voltage at I or II speed, 
–  direct switching on the voltage at I speed and start-up at II speed through starter. 

• 

The motor is adapted for work in temperate climate; after settlement the adaptation for work in tropical 
climate TA or TH is possible. 

 
COMPATIBILITY WITH REQUIREMENTS OF STANDARDS 

The motors meet requirements of Directive 94/9/EC (ATEX), European harmonized standards and 

domestic norms: 

- norms for electrical equipment in areas of explosion hazard: 

EN 50014:1997+A1:1999+A2:1999 – Polish equivalent PN-EN 50014:2004, 

EN 50018:2000+A1:2002 – Polish equivalent  PN-EN 50018:2005, 

EN 50019:2000 – Polish equivalent PN-EN 50019:2005, 

- norms for rotational electric machines: 

EN 60034-1:2004 – Polish equivalent PN-EN 60034-1:2005 (U),  

- domestic norms for induction motors for mining machines: 

PN G-38010:1997.  

 
CERTIFICATES 

The motor have the certificates: 

certificate EU (ATEX ) issued by notified Testing Station GIG KD “BARBARA”, 
valid on the area of European Union. 

-  decision of  President of WUG (State Mining Authority) about permission for application in 

underground mining plants.

The producer offers additionally: 

complete guarantee and after guarantee service, 

delivery of spare parts, 

training of employees in the range of correct maintenance and operating the motor.
