Baby Sulley pattern
What you’ll need:

Worsted-weight yarn:

Color A: turquoise (60 yds)

Color B: dark blue (3 yds)

F/5 3.75mm crochet hook

Poly-Fil or any stuffing of your choice

Sulley is a mighty 4” tall! Gauge is not important – just keep a consistent tension throughout the entire project.

Crochet in a spiral. Use something to mark the first stitch of a round, and move it up as you work.

“The Magic Circle” is used to start each piece (except Sulley’s head and nose). Alternative technique: ch 2, then
sc x6 into the second chain away from the hook. Sl st to join the round. This creates Round 1.

For this model, I used Lily Sugar ‘n Cream’s 100% cotton yarn in Mod Blue, Denim, Lavender, and Cornsilk
Nose:
Using Color B,
Round 1: Ch 5. Sc in 2

ch from hook. Sc in next 3
sts. Fasten off and leave a 12” tail for sewing.
Head:
Using Color A,
Round 1:
- Step 1. Ch 12. This is your foundation chain.
- Step 2: inc in 2
nd
ch from hook in BLO of foundation
chain. Sc in next 10 sts (in BLO).
- Step 3: Rotate the foundation chain, and then inc in
first loop on the opposite side of the foundation (this is
the “front loop” side). Sc in next 10 sts (in FLO).
- You should now have an oval with 24 sts around the
rim. Move on to Round 2.
Round 2: (1 inc, sc in next 11 sts) x2 = 26 sts
Round 3: (2 inc, sc in next 11 sts) x2 = 30 sts
Round 4: (3 inc, sc in next 12 sts) x2 = 36 sts
Round 5-7: sc in next 36 sts = 36 sts
Round 8: (3 dec, sc in next 12 sts) x2 = 30 sts
Round 9-11: sc in next 30 sts = 30 sts
Round 12: Mark Round 10 before continuing. (2 dec, sc in
next 11 sts) x2 = 26 sts
Round 13: (1 dec, sc in next 11 sts) x2 = 24 sts
Insert eyes between Rounds 10 & 11 and attach washers.
Eyes should be about 5 sts apart. Sew nose between his
eyes, and use the extra tail to embroider his mouth. Stuff
the head with Poly-Fil and continue stuffing as you go.
Round 14: (1 dec, sc in next 4 sts) x4 = 20 sts
Round 15: (1 dec, sc in next 2 sts) x5 = 15 sts
Round 16: (1 dec, sc in next 1 sts) x5 = 10 sts
2 dec, then fasten off and leave a 6” tail. Use the tail to sew
the head shut.

Body:
Using yarn in Color A,
Round 1: Magic Circle with a base of 6 stitches
Round 2: inc x6= 12 sts
Round 3: (1 inc, sc in next st) x6 = 18 sts
Round 4: sc in the next 18 sts = 18 sts
Round 5: (1 dec, sc in next st) x6 = 12 sts
Round 6: 4 dec, sc in next 4 sts = 8 sts
Round 7: sc in the next 8 sts = 8 sts
Fasten off and leave a 12” tail for sewing. Stuff body with Poly-Fil.
Position and sew the body to the head.
Horns (make 2):
Using yarn Color C,
Round 1: Magic Circle with a base of 6 stitches
Round 2: sc in next 6 sts (in BLO) = 6 sts
Round 3: 1 dec, sc in next 4 sts = 5 sts
Round 4: 2 dec, skip last st = 3 sts
Fasten off and leave an 8” tail for sewing. Weave the yarn from the tip of
the horn to the base of the horn. Sew it onto Sulley’s head.
Arms (make 2):
Using yarn in Color A,
Round 1: Magic Circle with a base of 6 stitches
Round 2-6: sc in next 6 sts = 6 sts
Fasten off and leave a 12” tail for sewing. Arms don’t need to be stuffed.
Sew the arms shut, then position and sew arms to body.
Legs (make 2):
Using yarn in Color A,
Round 1: Magic Circle with a base of 6 stitches
Round 2: inc x6= 12 sts
Round 3: sc in next 12 sts (in BLO) = 12
Round 4: dec x6= 6 sts
Round 5: sc in next 6 sts = 6 sts
Fasten off and leave a 12” tail for sewing. Stuff legs with Poly-Fil. Position
and sew legs to the body – make sure legs are sewn on so that the bear
can sit without falling over.
Tail:
Using yarn Color A,
Round 1: Magic Circle with a base of 6 stitches
Round 2: sc in next 6 sts (in BLO) = 6 sts
Round 3: sc in next 6 sts = 6 sts
Round 4: 1 dec, sc in next 4 sts = 5 sts
Round 5: 1 dec, then fasten off and leave an 8” tail for sewing.
Sew the tail shut, then weave the yarn from the tip of the tail to
the base of the tail. Sew it onto Sulley’s buttocks!
Finishing:
Using yarn Color D,
Embroider patches/spots on Sulley’s body and
tail.
Hide all loose yarn tails in the body, and then
you’re DONE!

Mike’s iris). Now cut a tiny slit in to the white felt.

a circle that is about 1.25” wide.
Where you cut your circle determines which way
Mike’s eyeball will be looking. You can play around
with different options.
DO NOT attach washer to safety eye until instructed
to do so.

the bottom of Mike’s body)
