genre of nickel silver winding checks in the world. Our
twist? This check, like its un-knurled counterpart below, is
essentially a slice out of the stepped portion of the geometry

PLAIN – These checks are the ultimate in a subtle
transition—understated elegance. You’re making rods
because you can make them better, so for goodness sake
avoid those hideous molded rubber winding checks and put

BROAD – Crafted from solid nickel silver bar stock in a style
reminiscent of traditional “tapers” which transitioned from the
large diameter of the grip to the smaller diameter of the rod

Made of polyurethane, our GRAPHITE ARBORS are lighter than cork,

but unlike cork or tape bushings, are much harder. They give the rod
maximum sensitivity by transmitting the strike signal and lure action
from the blank through the reel seat, to the fi sherman’s hands. Porous
surface enhances glue bonding.
GA arbors include glue channels on the outside surfaces and are less

likely to become loose between the blank and reel seat after continuous
use.
Standard I.D. can be reamed to fi t a wide array of blank diameters.

These pictures are samples of what you can do with the Quickgrip
material. Quickgrip shrinks 50% of its original size with the use of a heat
gun or propane torch. Tough Neoprene. No gluing necessary. Smooth
finish. Customize for unique grips.

CONTROL THE SHAPE!
CONTOURED QUICKGRIP™
This comfortable, anatomical grip shape
was fashioned by first gluing a length of
EVA foam grip material in place. The
foam was shaped to fit the finger contour of an angler’s hand and 1.25
inch ID Quickgrip was installed over the foam.
SPIRAL QUICKGRIP™
This very simple textured effect is
accomplished by spiraling
ordinary twine on the rod blank
before the Quick grip is installed.
All that you have to do is make
your spiral wrap with the twine and hold the tag ends down with masking
tape. It is recommended that you give the twine a light coat of rod
builder’s epoxy just to hold everything in place when you install the
Quick grip. After the glue has dried, shrink the Quickgrip to fit.
DIAMOND QUICKGRIP™
In this example, diamond wrap
50# monofilament line along the
length of the handle, glue it in
place, then shrink the Quickgrip
to fit.
TEXTURED QUICKGRIP™
(no picture)
You’ll need a rod lathe for
this trick, but it adds
texture to the Quickgrip
surface that many
surfcasters might appreciate. Simply mount the rod in the lathe and run a
2" wide strip of coarse sandpaper (50 grit or better) along the entire
length or just along the hand-held portions. Quickgrip is tough enough to
withstand a sanding without tearing or ripping.

CORK TAPE PRODUCTS
UNIQUE HANDLE / GRIP MATERIAL
Quick Grip is a seamless synthetic material designed to take
the place of cork tape grips. It offers resistance from damage to
salt water, ultra violet rays and some acids.
The new grip material is made as a seamless sleeve and is
available in a variety of inside diameters to fit over most
handles and reel seats. It can be put on over guides or slipped
on from the back to install it as a foregrip. Quick Grip has a
smooth finish and helps to reduce sticking to the rod holder
when trolling.
When heated, Quick Grip shrinks to less than half its original
inside diameter. While the thickness of the material increases
proportionally, the length is unchanged. A heat gun or low
flame propane torch can be used to apply the heat.
The sleeve provides a
toughened skin that is
stronger than most cork
tape and stays tighter on
the handle for a longer
period of time. It can
also be used over
synthetic grip materials
such as EVA and
Hypalon.
