A few days ago you saw a theatre performance which you enjoyed very much. One of the
magazines you regularly read has published a highly critical review of this performance.
Write a letter to the editor, arguing with the review. Below are some of the critical points the
magazine journalist makes in his review. Address at least three of them.

Choose one of the topics below and write a composition of 300 – 350 words.

1. The English proverb ‘Don’t count your chickens before they hatch’ means ‘Don’t be

sure of success until all difficulties have been overcome’. Write a story to illustrate
this proverb.

2. Write an article to a youth magazine about some of the hardships young people have

to face as they enter the adult life, and measures that might be taken to help them
overcome these hardships.

3. Some people believe that mass media have too much power today and should be

brought under control. Write an essay presenting a balanced view of the subject.
