BMW 2017 Installation Guide:

Once downloaded extract the .zip file using a program such as 7zip or WinRAR (right click, extract files, choose destination for folder e.g. desktop, ok)

To open the manual install vitualbox: https://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/5.2.16/VirtualBox-5.2.16-123759-Win.exe
Open virtualbox, click on file at the top and import Appliance, navigate to the extracted folder and click on BMW_WORKSHOP_MANUAL_2017 .OVA file, click next, click import.
The file will then import.
This may take some time.
Once the file has imported click the BMW from the virtualbox library and click the green start arrow.
The program will then load up and you will see a virtual desktop.

Close any issues concerning non genuine windows (this does not effect the opening and function of the manual).
