Effective use of Possession in the game

DESCRIPTION OF PRACTICE:
A 9v9 game. A simple demonstration of game organization, management and control using Q&A technique to improve players understanding of the key factors relating to Creating and exploiting space and the relationship between the two in a real game situation. This session should clearly identify the need for demonstration and rehearsal in clearly and accurately recreated situations.
ORGANISATION:
	A box to box game (9v9) including GKs on Start position can be from the Goalkeepers. No restrictions. Allow some free play to observe. Explain control methods for the game. Work through key factors in logical sequence Mark the thirds; offside in A1/3 only

KEY OBSERVATION FACTORS:

Create space (Team / Individual) (Mobility, Width & Depth) Selection of pass ( Penetration and Possession) Quality of pass (Time , weight,accuracy,disguise) Support behind the ball (Angles and Distances) Support in advance of the ball (Direction and Timing of runs)

NOTES:

Effective use of possession requires all of the above, the emphasis in this session should be creating width and depth and then individual mobility to exploit the space created. By the end of the session the teams should be keeping possession well and penetrating with accuracy and through patience. It is an extension of passing and support in a 6v6
