TOPIC / THEME - Creating Space and Support from Behind in a 1v1 (+1) practice

Create individual space and have the support from behind

DESCRIPTION OF PRACTICE (TECHNIQUE / SKILL)

Develop lots of combinations - dribbling, turning, screening & creating space.

ORGANISATION

4 grids- each grid approx 30 x 15m

Y1 plays to Y2- as ball is players then B1 closes down Y2.

Y2 receives the ball by screening from B1 - now:

Can Y2 get turned and dribble across opposite end line - if not - then Y2 should use Y1 (support from behind) and begin to propose again

Note: Rotate players

KEY FACTORS:

Can Y2 shield the ball and keep possession for his team from B1.

The players must have space in front to receive the ball

Can Y1 use the space behind to give depth in support from behind

NOTES

What are we looking for?

Can the attackers combine to get Y2 over the opposite end line?

Can the attackers create good angles and distance of support?

Good quality passing

Good accuracy of pass

Can Y2 shield / screen the ball from the defender

Can player Y2 get turns and attack the defender.

Does Y1 understand the angles and distance of support from behind

The support attacker Y1 should always be looking for signals from Y2 - body shape - open space- eye contact
