TOPIC / THEME: Techniques - The Long Passing - The Low and Lofted Passes
OBJECTIVE OF PRACTICE:
This practice is designed to develop and progress the player's long passing
ORGANISATION:
Grid size: 30m x 8m with a 5m end zone and a 3m channel between grids
16 players; one ball between each pair
Players work in pairs across the grid, keeping their position at the end of the grid
Players can move forward and back in the end zone, allowing for their age and physical ability
Alternative strikes are made by each pair in the grid
Progress to one ball, with players at each end creating a set up pass
KEY OBSERVATION FACTORS:
Eye on the Ball
Planted the Non-Kicking Foot
To the Side of the Ball - Low Driven Pass
Behind the Ball - Lofted Pass
Use the Instep (Toe Down, Heel Up)
Strike through the middle of the ball
Follow Through
NOTES:
Strike from a stationary ball, moving ball and a dribble
