DESCRIPTION OF PRACTICE (TECHNIQUE / SKILL)
Basic strategies worked on in a small-sided game such as passing, crossing, takeovers, overlapping, dribbling and turning, support and creating / exploiting space.
ORGANISATION
6 v 6 (+2 goalkeepers)
Normal game
60 x 40 m pitch
Players must stay in their zone to begin with
Get players to play as wide as they can to create through width and depth.
Look to develop individual & team mobility
This gives room to perform the above mentioned maneuvers e.g. takeover
Look for quick transition when possession is lost or gained
KEY FACTORS:
A forward pass in behind the players can create major problems and is more beneficial
Good movement (a backward run) can create space for a pass or a run with the ball
This is then exploiting the space
NOTES
Goalkeepers passes / throw- outs are vital with to the outfield players
Look for quality, selection & decision making being correct, support / help from team mates by been available for back passes
Add in floaters on the wings - look for crossing & finishing
