Letter of application

My name is Alicja Nowacka and I am writing in a response to your advertisement published in the issue of Newsweek International from May 1. I am very interested in taking part in the Summer Language Camp organized and funded by your foundation.

I am a student in the third grade of a secondary school in Cracow and I have been learning English for 7 years now. I can speak the language quite well but I have been still working on improving it. I am very interested in the British culture and history and it has always been my dream to visit that country. After graduating from secondary school, I would like to study English at university, however I must master the language to pass the entrance exams. My family is rather pour therefore I could not afford enrolling for a language school in London. Thus, spending holidays in a language camp in England would be a great opportunity for me.

I would like to ask you to consider my application when choosing the participant of the camp. I hope your decison will be positive for me. I am looking forward to your reply.

I'm twenty-seven years old . I studied at Jagieloński University journalism and editorship . I have recommendations from my lectures .

Currently I am working in a new small publishing company , Printers , that specializes in highly designed , high-quality books . Since I started here I have been the only full-time employee working on all editorial aspects of the books . I have a very wide range of responsibilities including : editing on screen in Microsoft Word , liaising with the designers and freelance editors , managing the stationery budget , Americanizing text .

I have been at Printers for over a year , and I have learnt a great deal , but there is no longer the scope to use all my knowledge and experience . I am seeking a position that offers responsibility for the full range of publishing and editorial skills , as well as the opportunity to meet and work with a range of people . I like to think that I bring enthusiasm and adaptability to my work .
