Tell us something about yourself.

 

My name is Bartosz. I am 25 years old. I am studying at Warsaw University of Technology, faculty engineering of production, specialization Mechanics  and construction of machines. I am interested in plastic manufacturing.

I live in Zielonka with my parents. I also have a sister, but she doesn't live with us. I am bachelor.

 

What do you like to do?

What do you do in your free time?

 

In my free time I usually go for a walk with my dog or work on a computer. Sometimes I play football and watch TV. But most of all I like walking in the Polish mountains. Two years ago I bought a bike so I ride it every evening. It is very pleasant, because there are a lot of beautiful bicycle paths in Zielonka.

 

What is your favourite kind of entertainment?

 

I think that rock concerts are my favourite kind of entertainment. Few years ago I went to Gdynia to see Jean Michel Jarre. I also saw concert of Pink Floyd in Poland, because I prefer classic rock to modern music.

I also like going to the cinema with my girlfriend. We usually watch thrillers.

 

Have you ever been abroad and which places would you like to visit in the future?

 

Yes, I have been abroad few times. I have visited Germany, Denmark, Ukraine. I think that Ukraine mountains are very beautiful and a little bit wild. Ukrainian Carpathians are very nice place without many  tourists.

This year I spent my holidays in Lithuania. I went there with my girlfriend by car. We visited Vilnus and Palanga. I recomend travelling to Lithuania, it is really worth seeing.

 

What would you do if you won a million euro?

 

If I won a million euro, I would invest half of the money and the rest I would give to poor people. I think I wouldn' t stop working if I became rich.

Maybe I would keep some more money for travelling, because I like it. I love visiting new places, meeting people of different cultures and knowing their habbits.

 

How long have you been learning English?

 

I have been learning English for 5 years, but I have found it very difficult. Unfortunately I have no ocassion to practice my English, and I am too poor to pay for private lessons.

 

How do you find out what is happening in the world?

 

Usually I find out what is happening in the world by visiting internet portals. I also try to watch news on TV everyday. Sometimes I read newspapers. When I am home I have radio turned on almost all the time, and I think it is really good source of information.

 

What are the positive and negative sides (pros and cons, or advantages and disadvantages) at polish schools and universities?

 

What are the pros and cons for studying at Warsaw University of Technology?

How would you recommend studying at Warsaw University of Technology?

 

I think that studying at WuoT gives many advantages over other universities. WouT is the leading university in Poland, so graduates of WuoT have more opportunities to get better job than other people. WuoT is a university for people who are good at math and physics so studying here is not very easy. People who are not determined to learn systematically and hard often are not able to finish successfully their studies.

              I think that knowledge, which we get at the university is not enough to be a good engineer. Students need more practice and that is why many of them try to work and study in the same time, or they found science circles. Practice increases their chances on the labour market.

              For me the great advantage of studying here is that WuoT is one of the best universities in Poland. This school is not far away from my home, so it is relatively cheep and convenient for me. On the other hand somtimes I would prefer living in the hostel and taste real students life ;-)

 

What other university in Poland is as good as WuoT?

I think that Wroclaw University of Technology is as good as WuoT.

 

If you would have to study somwhere else, where would it be?

I would study at Wrocław University of Technology.

   Do you regret something you have done in your life?

I regret that I haven't studied English more efficiently. I also regret that I don't have driving license for truck, because I like big trucks and I've always wanted to drive an american truck.

I like to travel and I think that job of truck driver gives the opportunity to visit many different places.

3) What would you like to do in the future?
   What would you like to do in 20 years?

I'd like to live in the country and to have my own bussines for example stud farm or firm producing parts made by injection molding.
I'd like to travel a lot and I always wanted to travel around the world. I would like to visit United States, because I think it is the best country for living in the world.

4) What is your hobby? What are you interested in?

I have many hobbies - one of them is mountain trekking. Whenever I have spare time, I go to the south of Poland and I climb one of the tops from the Crown of Polish mountains.
I also like riding by bike. Two years ago I bought a bike so I ride it every evening. It is very pleasant because there are a lot of beautiful bicycle paths in Zielonka.

5) Which/What continent would you like to visit during your holidays?

I would like to visit North America, because I've always wanted to go to United States to experience different styles of living in different parts of that country. I would like to see big cities like New York or Los Angeles, beaches in California, big Canion and wild Alaska.

   What are you planning to do next weekend?

   I'm going to sleep long next weekend. If I get up early enough I will watch Formula 1 race.

   I'm learning English next weekend.
   I'm visiting my grandparents and I'm going to the cinema with my girlfriend next weekend.

7) What do you like to do with your friends?

During the winter we like going to the bowling center or we go skating. In the summer we often ride by bike to the Campinoski Park or its surroundings.

8) What do you like to watch on the TV?
   What kind of programs, channels do you watch on the TV????

I usually watch news or some information programs on TV. The most often I watch Discovery Travel channel because I like travelling. It presents many interesting films and relations from different cultures. It provides the traveller with useful information.

9) Why do some people stay on the University after their studies?
   Why do some people countinue their studies on the University after getting/receiving Master Degree?

I think that some people stay on the University after their studies because they want to develop themselves or develop their knowledge. I know that there are people who stay on the University because they are afraid that they won't find a job as attractive as they want.

10) Czy uwazasz ze praca letnia jest najbardziej popularnym zajeciem wsrod studentow?

I think that nowdays a lot of students work during their holidays because they need money to pay for the hostel, or to buy books or for travelling. Many students work during their holidays because they gain practice, and they became more valueable on the labour market after their studies. A lot of students take the advantage of 'work and travel' holidays - they work and travel abroad. It is useful because they learn/improve their foreign language, they travel and they earn money in the same time.

I think that the Internet was the most important invent in the world/in the past.
I think that the Internet have been the most important invent .....

It is the greatest source of information nowdays. You can find almost everything you can imagine on the Internet and you have it whereever you go.

It allows people over the world to exchange ideas, to work on the same projects no matter where they live. Using the Internet people can devlop themselves without books, dictionaries and so on. Now you can do the same or even more in shorter time thank to the Internet.

The Internet have also drawbacks - people spend a lot of time with their computers instead meeting other people. Somtimes Internet is even an addiction like drugs or cigarettes - people can't live without it.

How new technologies influence our lives?

New technologies have pros and cons in our lives. Often they let us to save time and not to do boring jobs. But on the other hand they cause problems - people don't have time for each other because they spend their time chatting in virtual world or surfing the WEB. Internet gives you many information but it is not full. People can

    How do commercials/advertisements/adds influence people?

I think that people are under the influence of commercials/advertisements/adds because commercials/advertisements/adds usually are composed of very dynamical
 movies with attractive soundtracks. Often people playing in commercials are very attractive for example: beautiful young, womens or men with large muscles. People who watch that commercials/advertisements/adds want to be like commercial actors, so they have to buy/use advertised products.
Nowdays a lot of people is working on few seconds of the advertisement, to make it very attractive to people watching/hearing it.
Some people aren't under the influence of the advertisements, or they hope that. Some people like adverts very much and they consider ads as some kind of art - for example my sister. She says that some adverts are the best in TV programme - nothing is as much worth watching as ads.

For example new technologies or innovations in medicine are very positive - we can diagnose various diseases very early and we have medicaments to stop them. Sometimes it even lets people to live longer.
