PCB Differences between V980 and
V975/Altair
V975 (Lynx) is a PCB and housing change from V980 (Vela).
The V975 PCB is a modified version of the V980 PCB with the
major change being the memory section of the phone. Altair
(V980 RF) is the PCB from V975 in the V980 housing.
Summary of changes between the V975 and V980 PCBs:
•2 discrete Micron Flash to 1 stacked Tyax Flash and SDRAM
rotation.
•EMI/ESD filter under keypad connector moved away from
board edge.
•WDI resistor moved outside shield for easier access and
RESETB transistor moved under the shield for better ESD
protection.
•CS_OUT disconnected from VCC_OUT under PCAP for FPM
issue.
•Pre-applied underfil placeholders put in the design which
required a smaller C106 size.

U1310 were changed to
one stacked Tyax
memory with control
logic.
V980’s SDRAM, U1400,
was rotated and moved
away from the shield to
allow for a second
source 8x12 SDRAM
part.

U5104 next to the keypad connector was changed to a
smaller part and moved away from the edge of the board
because there were issues with it cracking.

D5000DNP was removed

CS_OUT pin was disconnected from VCC_OUT pin under
PCAP. (This is done on V980 Y11 Issue A PCB also.)

had to be changed from a 0603 part to a 0402 part to make
room.
