Given a satellite sensor with multiple thermal bands, can you determine the
emissivities? What are the difficulties?
Answer
The difficulty is that we have an underdetermined system of equations. Only
if we make assumptions on the expected shape of the emissivity spectrum is it
possible to extract emmissivity and temperature values.
