Master Crane 

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS 

Time to Complete: Approximately 60 minutes 
Level: Difficult 

  
GETTING STARTED

 

 
Materials: 
• Metal-edged ruler 
• Butter knife 
• Scissors or X-ACTO knife 
• Cutting mat (optional) 
• Multipurpose glue

 

 

1. Score all the pieces: Using a ruler as a guide,  
run the backside of a butter knife firmly along all  
the dotted lines. 

 

 

 

2. Using scissors or an X-ACTO knife and cutting mat, 
cut along all the solid lines. Be sure to cut slits indicated 
on head and body, but do not make cuts in wings now. 
 

 

 

 
ASSEMBLE THE BODY 

 

 

 

 

3. Fold tabs on each body panel (1) inward. Next, place a dab of glue on each tab and, 
folding panels inward at dotted lines, glue together.  
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

 

 

 
4. On bottom panel, place a dab of glue on each tab and fold inward. Hold in place until 
piece has dried completely.  
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

 

 

 

 
5. Repeat with top panel. 
 

 
ASSEMBLE THE FEET 

 

 

 
6. Fold top panel of one foot (2) up and the tip down. Repeat with other foot (3). 
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
7. Fold tabs with dotted lines inward and glue to backside of the top of the foot. Repeat 
with other foot. 

 
ASSEMBLE THE LEGS 

 

                

 

 

 
8. Fold one leg panel (4) inward on dotted lines and glue. Place a dab of glue on the 
remaining foot tabs and insert into leg. Hold in place until piece has dried completely. 
Repeat with other leg (5). 

 

 

 

 
9. At the top of the leg, place a dab of glue on each tab. Fold inward, into leg piece and 
hold in place until piece has dried completely. Repeat with other leg. 
 

 
ASSEMBLE THE HEAD 

 

 

 

 

 
10. Starting on the left side of the head (6), fold tabs inward on dotted lines and glue in 
place.  
 

 

 

 

 
11. On the top and bottom head panels, place a dab of glue on each tab. Fold inward and 
hold in place until piece has dried completely. 

 

 

 
 
 

 
12. Glue eye piece (7) to the face as shown. 
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
 
13. Glue the head onto the top of the body. 
 

 
ASSEMBLE THE BEAK 

 

 

 

 

 
14. Overlap tabs on beak (8) and glue in place. 
 

 

 

 

 
15. Glue beak onto the face as shown. 
 

 
ASSEMBLE THE HAT 

 

 

 

 

 
16. To form the hat’s (9) curve, tuck tab under adjacent edge until it reaches the solid 
black line. Glue in place. 
 

 
ASSEMBLE THE TASSEL 

 

 

 

 

 
17. Fold the tassel piece (10) in half and glue. 
 

 

 

 

 
18. Cut along the solid lines for extra flair. 

 

 

 
19. Place a dab of glue on tassel’s tab and attach to the back of head as shown. 
 

 

 

 

 

 

 
20. Threading the tassel through the middle opening, place the hat on top of head. 
 

 
ASSEMBLE THE WINGS 

 

 

 

 

 
21. Fold each wing (11 & 12) piece in half and glue. 
 

 

 

 

 
22. Cut along solid lines at the end of each wing to create a feathered effect. 
 

 
FINISHING TOUCHES 

 

 

 

 

 
23. Glue each leg to the bottom of body piece.  
 

 

 

 

 
24. Fold the tab downward on each wing and insert into cut on each side of the body. 
 

 

 

 
28. You’re done!
