Origin  

Middle third of posterior ulna distal to the 
origin of the abductor pollicis longus, 
interoseous membrane 

Insertion  

Dorsal surface of the base of distal 
phalanx of thumb 

Actions  

Extends the interphalangeal joint of the 
thumb, assists in extension of the 
metacarpal and carpometacarpal joints of 
the thumb, assists in wrist abduction 
(radiaal deviation) and extension 

Nerve  

Radial nerve
