Origin  

Posterior surface of the body of the ulna 
distal to the origin of the supinator, 
interoseous membrane, and middle third 
of the body of the radius 

Insertion  

Radial side of base of the 1st metacarpal 

Actions  

Abducts and extends the carpometacarpal 
joint of the thumb, abducts (radial 
deviation) the wrist, assists in wrist flexion 

Nerve  

Radial nerve
