Origin  

Posterior surface of the body of the tibia 
and from fascia covering the tibialis 
posterior 

Insertion  

Base of distal phalanges of the 2nd 
through 5th toes 

Actions  

Flexes the proximal (PIP)and distal (DIP) 
interphalangeal and metatarsophalangeal 
joints of the 2nd through 5th toes; assists 
ankle plantarflexion and foot inversion 

Nerve  

Tibial nerve
