Waste treatment without

polluting the air, land

or sea

A specialist in waste treatment on cruise ships, Norsk Inova installed
the world’s fi rst three-deck incinerator system on board the ‘SS
Norway’ in 1979 – followed by the fi rst integrated incinerator/food
waste/recycling system installed aboard the ‘MS Sovereign of the
Seas’ six years later. As thousands of passengers and crew generate
huge amounts of waste aboard a cruise ship, the limited space
available for storage makes the waste treatment plant one of the most
important piece of machinery and logistics systems aboard. Norsk
Inova located in Notodden, based in Notodden in Norway, is a major
manufacturer and vendor of complete waste handling and treatment
systems for cruise ship applications. The company supplies technical
solutions and services to both new buildings and to the sailing fl eet.
Far from standing still, the company is continuously working on waste
treatment equipment. A lot of improvements have been introduced in
recent years. These include the ‘Green Ship Concept’ fi rst introduced
in 1990, which has become a standard for environmentally aware
cruise ship owners, and a fl ue glas cleaning system capable of
complying with the world’s strictest regualtions.

Quality Management – more than words

Norsk Inova attaches great importance to quality
management. Our methods are fully traceable and our
products are of high quality. Norsk Inova received ISO 9001-
2000 certifi cation from DNV in June 1999. This means that the
company’s quality system covering the design, development,
sale and project management of waste treatment systems
for the cruise ship industry has been found to comply with
the international Quality System Standard NS-EN ISO 9001,
1994.

We offer you a worldwide service

Norsk Inova offers support and training for offi cers and crew
members for the proper operation and maintenance for the
entire water treatment plant.

Our service engineers travel around the world to

commission, service, and maintenance systems on board
ships at sea and docked at shipyards.

In addition to our service department we also have an

offi ce in south Florida. This is mainly staffed with technical
personnel, enabling us to offer the best in aftersales and
service.

The Evac challenge

In our 30-year history we have delivered more than 750 000 vacuum toilets, thousands of vacuum units and hundreds of wastewater treatment
plants, separately and in combination. With modern shipbuilding focusing more on ship assembly and shipowners paying more attention to total
responsibility, our strategy is aimed at becoming the number one solution provider for waste management systems. Our products are targeted at
three different key customer groups: Cargo, Navy and Cruise & Ferry.
