Origin  

Common extensor tendon from the lateral 
epicondyle of humerus, deep antebrachial 
fascia 

Insertion  

By four tendons inserting into the extensor 
expansion (extensor hood) into the base 
of the middle phalanx and base of the 
distal phalanx of 2nd through the 5th digits 

Actions  

Extends all three joints of the 2nd through 
5th fingers, assists wrist extension 

Nerve  

Radial nerve
