Sitting or supine, with the knee flexed. 
Stabilize the foot in slight plantar flexion. 
Extend the metatarsophalangeal and 
interphalangeal joints of the great toe.  
 
Examiner pressure: 
Against the dorsal surface of the proximal 
and distal phalanges of the great toe in the 
direction of flexion.
