„Requiem for a dream” was directed by Parren Aronofsky, he is rather unknown but extremely professional film director. The film is kind of drama and thriller. It was made in 2004 and based on Hubert Selby’s novel. What is more, the film is set in Brooklyn, in one of the district in New York.

The film presents an unusual story of group of teenagers who start taking drugs. Initially, it is not so hazardous because drugs give them a lot of fun, entertainment and nice feelings. The whole issue get out of theirs control and young people get addicted. It means they need to take that harmful substances regularly, even a few times a day, without being able to stop. From that moment the main characters change their life and behaviour. Unbelievably, one girl becomes a prostitute and meets with rich men only for drugs. But not only she is so desperate to take drugs…

The plot of “Requiem of a dream” is gripping, thrilling and a bit frightening. During watching it I could not take my eyes off the screen. The main characters are extremely true-to-life, convincing and well-developed. Although, the cast are unknown, they are excellent.

This film is becoming more and more popular because of big connection to reality. What is more, a lot of specialists use it to indicate teenagers how the addicted people’ life looks like. I am sure it will be also good lesson for you.
