AMY Winehouse has secretly had a boob job in readiness for her planned TV comeback on Strictly Come Dancing tonight.
The 26-year-old singer paid Ł35,000 to a clinic in London's Harley Street to restore the voluptuous curves she boasted when she first hit the charts.
The Back To Black singer showed off an eye-popping busty outline when she burst on to the scene in 2003.
But she was left emaciated and skeletal after years of heroin abuse with junkie ex-hubby BLAKE FIELDER-CIVIL.
Now pals say she has decided on the implants to boost her confidence as she slowly regains her figure.
Amy checked into a clinic at the beginning of last week before having the op on Wednesday.
She told fellow patients who later saw her staggering round the building "with tubes hanging from her chest" she'd had the surgery especially for her planned TV comeback on Strictly Come Dancing tonight.
Amy is set to appear on the BBC1 show as a backing singer for her 13-year-old god-daughter DIONNE BROMFIELD, signed to the recovering druggie's own record label.
But last night there were doubts the star would perform after she missed a week of rehearsals for the op.
Management also feared she may suffer an infection if she went on stage.
Amy's surgery boosted her chest from a 32B cup to a generous 32D.
The bill covers her procedure, her hospital stay and recovery treatment. One worker at the London clinic said: "She looks amazing, like a new woman. Amy told us she wanted a new look - it's all part of her fresh start for her big comeback.
"We all feared she'd fallen off the wagon when she came in. Then we saw her bouncing around with these huge boobs which stand out as she's so tiny and skinny."
But staff and patients feared Amy would not have recovered in time for tonight's show after she was seen stumbling around the clinic, slurring her words.
One patient told The Sun: "She was wandering around in a daze, humming under her breath. She had tubes hanging out of her bust so I asked what she'd had done.
"She started rambling and said, 'I've had a boob job. I 'ad 'em done for Strictly. I wanted to look my best and I'm sick of stuffing hankies down my bra'.
"It was hilarious. I didn't even know she was going on the show - but the way she was when I saw her she was struggling to string a sentence together.
"I'll be amazed if she can sing on TV. She seemed in a hell of a state - completely out of it."
Little Dionne will showcase her single Mama Said from her debut album.
A spokesman for Amy, who has performed live just three times in nine months, confirmed she had been in hospital, but said it was for a "routine procedure".
