BODIES OF LAW - rodzaje prawa/ systemów prawa

(termin odnosi się do rozróżnienia między podstawowymi modelami systemów prawnych takimi jak system prawa stanowionego przez władzę ustawodawczą (civil law) i systemem prawa precedensowego (case law/common law) podczas gdy termin TYPES OF LAWS odnosi się do rozróżnienia między rodzajami aktów prawnych takich jak ustawy, rozporządzenia, przepisy, regulaminy, statuty etc.

Analogicznie w obrębie Wielkiej Brytanii - Anglia, Szkocja i Channel Islands posiadają odrębne systemy prawne (in American legal English they are `jurisdictions'). Analogicznie przedstawia się sprawa w Kanadzie i wielu państwach Brytyjskiej Wspólnoty Narodów. (The Commonwealth). Oprócz tego znaczenia termin `jurisdiction' ma również drugie znaczenie analogiczne do znaczenia polskiego - jako jurysdykcja.

CASE LAW (prawo precedensowe)

= the body of law set out in judicial decisions, as distinct

from statute law. Law as established by precedents,

that is by the decisions of courts in earlier cases.

(often used to mean the same as `common law')

COMMON LAW

1. law as laid down in decisions of courts, rather than by
